Company Background of McDonalds


The founder of McDonald's, Raymond Albert Kroc opened the first McDonald's outlet in 1955 in Des Plaines. The brand mission of McDonald's is "To be our customers' favourite place and way to eat" and the brand promise is to provide Simple Easy Enjoyment to every customer at every visit.
Today, McDonald's is one of the leading global quick serving retailers with more than 34,000 local restaurants serving more than 69 million of people in 118 countries every day. Besides that, more than 80 % of McDonald's restaurant outlets are owned and operated by the independent local businessmen.
In Malaysia, the first McDonald's outlet was opened on 29 April 1982 when the McDonald's Corporation in U.S gave the franchise right to Golden Arches Restaurants Sdn Bhd which is owned by the Tan Sri Vincent Tan in 1980.
Furthermore, the first restaurant outlet was located at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur and currently McDonald's has more than 200 restaurants within Malaysia. Moreover, it is planning to expand at about 20-25 restaurants annually. To date, McDonald's in Malaysia has employed more than 12,000 local people and it was named as AON-Hewitt Best Employers in Malaysia in 2009 and 2011 as well as AON-Hewitt Best Employers in Asia Pacific in 2011.
